Kansas, U.S.A.
Welcome to Wichita, Kansas.
Wichita is situated in south-central Kansas on the Arkansas River. Home to around 388,418 people, it is the largest city in the state. In the mid 19th century, Wichita was a trading post on the Chisholm Trail. The city was incorporated in 1870, and developed into a key destination for cattle drivers traveling from Texas to access railroads. This earned Wichita the nickname Cowtown. The city later transformed into a hub of U.S aircraft production, which instead made Wichita known as The Air Capital of the World. There are still numerous large aircraft manufacturing and design firms operating in Wichita, and the city remains a major center for the U.S. aircraft industry. Kansas' largest airport is also located in Wichita, the Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National airport.
