WEYMOUTH TOWN
Massachusetts, U.S.A.
A CLEAN SMALL TOWN
Welcome to Weymouth Town, Massachusetts.
The Town of Weymouth is situated in the Greater Boston area and is home to around 54,000 people. It is one of 14 municipalities that have been granted city forms of governments, but want to retain the town in their official names. Weymouth was named after a coastal town in England with the same name, and is the second-oldest European settlement in the state. The first European settlers came to the area in 1622, and founded the Wessagusset Colony under the leadership of Thomas Weston. The town of Weymouth is conveniently situated only 12 miles from Boston and 42 miles from Providence, Rhode Island. Weymouth features a number of parks, including the Beals Park, the Bicknell Park, Bradford Hawes Park, Cavern Rock Park and plenty of others. Parents can take their little ones to the Birches Playground between Westminster Road and Birchcliff, and sports enthusiast can enjoy the Legion Field & Tennis Courts facilities. There are four town centers: Bicknell Square, Jackson Square, Weymouth Landing and Columbian Square. All squares feature plenty of service and retail businesses and restaurants, and Jackson Square is the largest of the four. The latter features beautiful historic buildings, clean streets and plenty of recreation, dining and shopping opportunities.
