California, U.S.A.
Welcome to Westlake Village, California.
With around 8,300 residents, Westlake Village is a quiet community that straddles the Los Angeles and Ventura county line. Originally, the community was part of Thousand Oaks and known as just Westlake, until the City of Westlake Village was incorporated in 1981. Westlake Village is situated in sweeping hills and covers plenty of open space, which includes lots of hiking and horse trails. The expansive Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area surrounds the city, creating stunning and peaceful scenery for those who enjoy more rural areas. With the city's location in the Santa Monica Mountains and just 9 miles to the Pacific Ocean, residents have convenient access to an abundance of outdoor recreation. And as the name suggests, Westlake Village has its own lake within the watershed of Malibu Creek. Westlake Village is very much a so-called bedroom community, home to many professionals who commute to Los Angeles via the Ventura Freeway. In addition, lots of people work in the city in the large commercial offices and headquarters like that of Dole Food Company, K-Swiss and JAFRA Cosmetics. Aside from the Ventura Freeway, commuters can get to Los Angeles and the surrounding Ventura County through the Pacific Coast Highway and the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway. Shopping can be done at the nearest mall in Thousand Oaks, but there are also a few smaller centers with various boutiques and dining places in Westlake Village. Those who like to swing their club can head to one of the many golf courses and country clubs in the area, which include Westlake Golf Course, Sherwood Country Club and North Ranch Country Club.
