Welcome to Highland/West Highland, Denver.
The Highland area is a unique city-center neighborhood in Denver, with a rich ethnic background. The neighborhood is strongly colored by the large Italian and Mexican population, which can be seen in various businesses, shops and churches throughout. Conveniently situated by the Sheridan, 38th Ave, Zuni, 23rd Ave and Lowell, Highland is currently enjoying a large upswing in popularity. Today, the new developments, hip bungalows and modern lofts attract and abundance of residents from all walks of life. People are drawn to the pleasant streets, the cultural flavors and the central location, as well as Highland Square with its many shops and restaurants. One of the reasons why The Highlands has become such a coveted neighborhood is the redevelopment of the Central Platte Valley. New constructions like the Denver Millennium Bridge and Platte River Bridge allowed easier accessibility to downtown, which made a huge difference for many residents. In addition, preservationists worked diligently to save some of the most historically significant parts of the neighborhood, like the Potter-Highland Historic District and Stonemen's' Row Historic District. In addition, lots of modern and upscale developments are under way as well, further attracting the well-off crowds.
