Welcome to West Colfax, Denver.
This neighborhood is situated in the West Denver area, and was named after Colfax Avenue, the busiest street in the area. Playboy Magazine once dubbed Colfax Avenue the longest, wickedest street in America, but the street is actually not as bad as it sounds. In reality most sketchy activity is isolated to short stretches, and the rest of the street has seen plenty of revitalization and recent development. Lately, Colfax has received additions like new housing complexes, businesses and an array of different restaurants. West Colfax features a mix of single-family homes, condos and a plethora of businesses. The St. Anthony Central Hospital is also located here, as well as Denver's oldest Jewish Community. Although there is a large Jewish population here, West Colfax is inherently diverse and also home to Anglo, African American, Latino, Native American and Southeast Asian residents. In addition to urban characteristics and amenities, West Colfax also features a number of historical landmarks along Colfax Avenue, including Civic Center Historic District, East High School, West Side Court Building and the Davies' Chuck Wagon Diner. And as far as outdoor recreation, West Colfax residents have access to the Sloan's Lake, which is situated right by the north border of the neighborhood.
