Welcome to Vista, California.
Just seven miles inland from the Pacific Ocean in northern San Diego County, you will find the beautiful City of Vista. Thanks to its favorable geographical position, residents can enjoy a mild Mediterranean climates and a variety of year-round outdoor activities. Covering 19 square miles of tumbling hills and pleasant rural surroundings, Vista is home to 96,314 people. Vista is situated on what was originally the lands of Rancho Buena Vista, and was founded in 1882. The city was officially incorporated in 1963, and became a charter city in 2007. Aside from a wonderful natural setting, Vista also has over a dozen public parks, including the Brengle Terrace Park, Breeze Hill Park, Bu Williamson Park and the Buena Vista Park Pond. Kids may enjoy an exciting day at the Wave Waterpark, one of Vista's most popular attractions. Those with green fingers should stop by the Alta Vista Botanical Gardens, which was named to reflect the wonderful view that its site offers visitors. With a motto to Bring Together People, Nature and Art, the gardens provide an interactive, living classroom for North San Diego County students, and feature a remarkable range of rare, beautiful plants. Art enthusiasts rejoice; the City of Vista offers a substantial Public Art programs ranging from Kites Over Vista, the Vista in Bloom Utility Box mural program, as well as downtown murals and terrific exhibits at the Civic Gallery. Culture buffs should stop by The AVO Playhouse, the Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum, The Broadway Theater and The Moonlight Amphitheater, as well as the historic Rancho Buena Vista Adobe and Rancho Guajome Adobe.
