California, U.S.A.
Welcome to Visalia, California.
Visalia is a city in the San Joaquin Valley, situated approximately 230 miles from San Francisco, 190 miles from Los Angeles and 36 miles from Sequoia National Park. With around 125,000 residents, Visalia is the 5th largest city in the San Joaquin Valley. The city is the seat of one of the most agriculturally productive areas in the country, Tulare County. Visalia was named after one of the first settlers' (Nathaniel Vises) ancestral home Visalia in Kentucky. The city has seen rapid growth throughout the years, much thanks to the gold rush era along the Kern River. Residents of Visalia are lucky, as they have access to some of the most spectacular natural attractions in all of California, including Yosemite, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. So if you're in the neighborhood, pack your bags and head up to the Sierra Nevada Mountains for some serious camping! Visalia is divided into Downtown Visalia, North Visalia, The Eastside, Southwest Visalia, the Industrial Area, Mooney and Westside. The city has a wealth of architectural history, and many buildings date all the way back to the mid-late 19th century. The town center is a joy to walk around in, as it is filled with pretty historic brick structures, such as the old Bank of Italy and the Art Deco/Beaux-Arts Visalia Town Center Post Office both listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Filled with spectacular architecture, including Victorian, Visalia also boasts a restored Fox Theatre that today features live performances like theater and music. Whether you're in the mood for sightseeing, entertainment, restaurants or shopping, Downtown Visalia has it all. Come and enjoy flavors from all over the world, eclectic stores and top-notch entertainment in the historic and picturesque city center you will not be disappointed in the many things Visalia has to offer!
