SUISUN CITY
California, U.S.A.
NORTHERN CALI’S CAPE COD
Welcome to Suisun City, California. The city of Suisun is located in Solano County and is home to around 28,000 people.
The name of the city comes from the nearby Suisun Bay, which in turn received its name from the Suisunes; a native Indian tribe. Suisun City has something to offer anyone who comes to visit or stay, with an abundance of outdoor recreation as well as dining and shopping. This cape-cod like town has all the perks of Northern California's nature, and if you feel like a dose of fresh air, there is more than enough activities to choose from. Bring your bicycle and turn your wheels around the many quiet rural roads around the city, or ride along the shore of the Suisun Bay and California Delta. Birdwatchers can grab their binoculars and scout for birds in the open spaces of the Rush Ranch preserve, while boat enthusiasts can head out from the Suisun City Waterfront to sail or race the sparkling waves of the California Delta. And while you're exploring the waters, why not stop by the Suisun City Fishing Pear and take your chances on catching a striped bass or a white catfish! In terms of parks, Suisun City gives you access to the Grizzly Island, Peytonia Slough State Ecological Reserve, Rush Ranch and the Suisun Wildlife Center, all of in which you will find an abundant wildlife. You can even go kayaking in the sunset or explore Indian grinding stones in the Suisun Marsh, which makes up over 10 percent of California's remaining natural wetlands. As far as dining and shopping, both the Sunset Shopping Center and the City's Waterfront District are doused with options. Check out the Athenian for fresh Greek fare and a waterfront view, or the Cast Iron Grill & Bar, where aside from delicious food there is a mural that depicts the story of Suisun City's history. When your belly is full, shop away at the family owned Sparkly Ragz Boutique, where you will find an eclectic assortment of consignment items and occasional girls night out events. For art and history in and around Suisun City, check out the Lawler House Gallery, the Benicia History Museum or the Budweiser Brewery Tour!
