California, U.S.A.
Welcome to Santa Rosa, California.
This city of 174,000 is located in Sonoma County, and is the largest city on the California North Coast. Santa Rosa was the location of Alfred Hitchcock's thriller Shadow of Doubt in 1943, and while many of the downtown buildings in the movie no longer exist, some of the landmarks have survived. The rough-stone Northwestern Pacific Railroad and the renowned Empire Building have both withstood the test of time and the 1969 earthquakes that shattered much of the downtown construction. Most of the wildlife is located in the urban fringe, but the Santa Rosa Creek provides a steady trickle through the town center. Hence, downtown West Ninth Street has the perk of flora like Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets and Black-Crowned Herons. Sometimes you can even spot a deer or a mountain lion within city limits! The city also borders and circles the northern parts of Annadel State Park, which extends throughout the Sonoma Mountains and Sonoma Valley. Annadel State Park also includes the Spring Lake County Park, which provides the people of Santa Rosa with extensive green space where visitors can explore the wild native habitats. For many years, the city slogan was The City Designed For Living and it is really no wonder. With such rich wildlife, stunning nature and a downtown that is filled with shops, restaurants and museums, you will surely find yourself agreeing with that statement. Check out the Boca Tavern for refined American food in a cozy setting, or the California Indian Museum and Cultural Center for one of many unparalleled experiences available in the city of Santa Rosa.
