California, U.S.A.
Welcome to Santa Clara California.
Home to around 116,000 people, Santa Clara was named the Spanish mission Mission Santa Clara de Asis, which settled here in 1777. Santa Clara is located in the heart of Silicon Valley and is the grounds for several large technology headquarters such as Intel. The city is also home to the Santa Clara University, which is the oldest higher learning institution in the state, as well as the NFL's San Francisco 49ers. Sports fans will feel right at home here, as there are an abundance of venues hosting games at any given time. Santa Clara sponsors a total of 19 teams, including the Santa Clara Broncos, whose colors (red and white) are featured on the City flag. The Broncos are a Santa Clara pride, and have achieved immense intercollegiate success in basketball, baseball and soccer. There are several large stadiums in the city, like the Levi's Stadium, which hosted the WWE's WrestleMania in March 2015. In 2011, Santa Clara citizens voted to build a 68,500 seat stadium for the San Francisco 49ers, and the impressive affair is now located between the Great America Park and the Convention Center. The first event hosted here was a Major League Soccer match between the San Jose Earthquakes and the Seattle Sounders in 2014, the first pro football game was between the 49ers and Denver Broncos in 2014. Santa Clara is a place of culture, with a plethora of museums such as the Intel Museum, Triton Museum of Art and the Harris-Lass historical house. Our Lady of Peace Shrine is a beautiful thirty-two foot tall statue, and if you get up on Highway 101, you can get a good look and perhaps a nice photo in the process!
