California, U.S.A.
Welcome to the beautiful city of San Leandro, California.
San Leandro houses around 87,000 people and counting. With its ideal location on the eastern shore of San Francisco Bay, San Leandro has all the great elements of a medium-sized ocean town. The first inhabitants of what eventually became San Leandro were the ancestors of the Ohlone tribe, who occupied the area all the way back in 3500 BC. European settlers didn't arrive until 1772, and the first known colonists were Spanish soldier Captain Pedro Fages, and the Spanish Catholic priest Father Crespi. This welcoming town is as diverse as can be, with a rich heritage and a plethora of cultural amenities to offer. Among the recreation featured in San Leandro are two golf courses, a large library and a 460-berth Marina. San Leandro is famous for its delicious cherries, and in 1909 San Leandro held its premiere Cherry Festival, a cherished event that is still celebrated today. The city is famous for its peaceful and orderly neighborhoods, filled with appealing and distinctive houses decorated by neat rows of trees. San Leandro's community is a strong one, and the residents work hard to improve the town in numerous ways. Aside from the wonderful town-spirit, San Leandro offers amazing weather that makes outdoor recreation more than pleasant. The average rainfall is only 19 inches per year, which makes it possible to enjoy the many parks year round. Downtown San Leandro has seen recent development with a new Village Marketplace, a neighborhood focal point in Mediterranean fashion, which will feature plenty of restaurant and franchise chains like Peet's Coffee and Habit Burger. Every Wednesday, thousands of residents make their way to the Downtown Farmers Market, where you can find local produce and mingle with neighbors in this lovely little town!
