California, U.S.A.
Welcome to the birthplace of California, AKA "America's Craft Beer Capital".
San Diego was the first place that Europeans visited on the West Coast of the United States, where Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo claimed the land for Spain. Today, the city borders the Mexican city of Tijuana, and the residents of the two cities have a close relationship, sharing business, culture, education, nightlife and entertainment experiences. The city's local craft brewing industry, along with annual events like Comic-Con and San Diego Pride, are popular with both residents and tourists alike. San Diego's rich history, booming tourism, and intellectual curiosity fuel many popular museums and two of the World's most exceptional and humane zoo experiences: the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Safari Park. The sea port and its location on the US-Mexico border enable San Diego to act as a major hub of international trade. The land border is the busiest international border crossing in the world, making it the largest commercial crossing on the border between California and Mexico's Baja California with the third-largest volume of trucks and dollar value of trade throughout the entire US-Mexico border. San Diego's economy is also fueled by biotechnology, research & development, major league sports and college sports. The US Census Bureau ranks the city the ninth-most-educated city in the World. Because San Diego is home to the largest Naval fleet in the world (in addition to Marine Corps and Coast Guard bases), several major national defense contractors are headquartered here. The Navy is the top employer in the city, and about five percent of the civilian jobs in the county are related to the military. In fact, San Diego is so important to the Navy, four navy ships have been named the "USS San Diego" throughout the history of United States.
