ROHNERT PARK
California, U.S.A.
THE FRIENDLY CITY
Welcome to Rohnert Park, California. This city in Sonoma County has around 42,000 inhabitants and is located approximately 50 miles north of San Francisco. Rohnert Park is one of the country’s first planned communities, directly modeled after Levitown New York and Levitown Pennsylvania. The city is designed as a family community, with beautiful bikeways and walkways running along tree-lined boulevards. The attractive neighborhoods each have their own park and elementary school, and the city is surrounded by farms and grazing land. Thanks to the nearby farms and excellent city planning, residents can enjoy a functional, clean city while having access to fresh fruit, vegetables and home made cheese. Rohnert Park in Sonoma County’s Wine Country is a sports and recreation destination, with more facilities than any other city in North Bay. Aside from plenty of public outdoor recreation, it houses two performing arts centers and the renowned Sonoma State University. Rohnert Park has several great restaurants, like the family-owned Nepalese eatery Shangria-La Café & Grill, where you’ll be served a variety of flavorful dishes. The Sushiko provides guests with contemporary Japanese food in a welcoming atmosphere, and Art’s Place serves homely food in a warm family type setting. The city has been nicknamed “The Friendly City”, thanks to its many activities open to both kids and their parents. Check out the bowling alleys at Double Decker Lanes, or have a picnic at the Crane Creek Regional Park before enjoying a concert at the Green Music Center; a large and lively venue with space for nearly 6000 people!
