California, U.S.A.
Welcome to Rancho Santa Margarita, California.
Rancho Santa Margarita is an affluent city and a master planned community in Orange County, which is home to around 49,000 people. The city is nestled along the foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains; bordered by the city of Mission Viejo on the west, Coto de Caza on the south, Trabuco Canyon on the north, and the Cleveland National Forest on the east. The city became the 33rd city in Orange County to incorporate in year 2000. The city was planned as an Urban Village, offering the best of worlds all the amenities of a small city with the rural charm of a small village. Rancho Santa Margarita's city motto is A Small City with the Soul of a Small Village. Visitors to the area will find an eclectic blend of retail shops, dining places and parks, and there is plenty of room to experience the local community spirit with the many events held throughout the year. The scenic Lake Rancho Santa Margarita offers a tranquil respite with a surrounding path perfect for walking, jogging, or bike riding. The Trabuco Canyon is another gorgeous space in the Trabuco and Live Oak Canyons; a heavily wooded area with an overnight camping facility, playground, nature walks and horseshoe pits. Other parks and recreation areas include the Thomas F. Riley Wilderness Park, the Rancho Santa Margarita Skate Park, and the Starr Ranch Sanctuary. The latter offers Family Nature Workshops, which includes sampling of the ecology programs, nature walks and programs by guest biologists. The weekends also feature fun for the whole family with Wildlife Research Camps with plenty of outdoor exploration. Residents of the community also have access to the exclusive Beach Club and Lagoon, which features a large lake and swimming lagoon, a sand beach, picnic areas, volleyball courts and a walking path. There is an amphitheater for outdoor concerts and movie nights, as well as a Fiesta Room for various parties. You can even sail, fish and kayak on the lake, and visitors can rent boast and fishing supplies. As a major bonus, Rancho Santa Margarita is perfectly situated halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego, providing visitors with the option to enjoy major tourist activities within a 100-mile radius. Several activities are situated fairly close by, including the spectacular Laguna Beach, which is located 24 miles away. Another nearby attraction is the Mission San Juan Capistrano, situated just 12.5 miles from Rancho Santa Margarita.
