Welcome to Plano, Texas.
With almost 270,000 residents, Plano is city and suburb that is located around 20 miles northeast of downtown Dallas. CNN Money Magazine ranked Plano three times over as the best place to live in the Western United States, and Forbes selected it twice as the safest city in America. Plano is home to several corporate headquarters, including giants like Alliance Data, Ericsson, HP Enterprise Services and Toyota Motors USA. The thriving city comprises major employment center, and people come relocate to Plano and the surrounding area for the many jobs, stable economy and affordable real estate. Plano also boasts some of the highest scoring schools in the nation, and is one of the wealthiest cities in the U.S. in terms of median income. So if you're looking for a good time with fellow residents, Plano has you covered. Plano is home to a diverse community, and has one of the state's largest concentrations of Chinese Americans. Chinese professionals have been settling in the business hub for since the early 1990s, and most Chinese restaurants and cultural organizations in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan area can be found in Plano and neighboring Richardson. Plano also has a total of six Chinese churches. A staggering 80 percent of Plano's visitors are in town for business, because of the many corporate headquarters, its convention center, and the city's proximity to Dallas. Plano has worked diligently to attract more retail to the downtown area, and the plaza Shops at Legacy is part of that effort. The new area features beautiful modern residences, shops and restaurants, constructed with the New Urbanism-philosophy. As far as green space, Plano residents have access to several parks that are filled with an impressive number of large trees. The most notable one is located in the Bob Woodruff Park by Rowlett Creek, and is estimated to be more than 500 years old!
