NORTHYARDS
HOME OF COCA-COLA
Welcome to Northyards, Atlanta.
This area is mainly known for its industrial development and its several prominent businesses, including Coca-Cola. Northyards has changed a lot throughout the recent years, with the addition of the new Northywards Business Park, covering 17 acres. The park is situated between the Georgia World Congress Center and Georgia Tech, and provides a distinct in-town alternative to the typically bland suburban office parks. In 1993, when the brothers David and Rhodes Perdue began the development, the area surrounding the park was mainly worn down warehouses home to vagrants. But the brothers saw potential, and together with the City of Atlanta they began a large revival project aimed to create attractive homes for new businesses. The construction was unique in a sense, with much of the old warehouse character being restored instead of torn down. The result is a spectacular business park, which earned the project the 2002 Atlanta Urban Design Commission Award of Excellence for Historic Preservation. The office park today covers 260,000 square feet and the project cost a whopping 25 million dollars. The project is a great addition to Atlanta, as the influx of new businesses has helped create jobs for residents. Aside from the business park, Northyards is home to the Bauder College, the Coca-Cola Company as well as the Technology Enterprise Park. At the Pemberton Place Park, you'll also find the Center for Civil and Human Rights as well as the world-famous World of Coca-Cola. For culture, visit the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, and for fun with kids, check out the Georgia Aquarium. While there isn't much commercial activity in the area, residents who live in the area have access to nearby dining like WingNuts, Burgers&More, SceneCity Restaurant and a few others. For a night out, check out the Der Biergarten and Suite Food Lounge.
