Oklahoma, U.S.A.
Welcome to Norman, Oklahoma.
Norman is a city located around 20 miles south of downtown Oklahoma City, and home to around 118,000 people. The city was settled during the Land Run of 1889, and named after Abner Norman, the area's initial land surveyor. The city is home to the University of Oklahoma, the largest university in the state with around 30,000 students. The esteemed university is renowned for its athletic events by teams under the nickname Sooners, and more than 80,000 people attend the football games. The campus also houses several museums; including the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, where visitors can explore the largest collection of French Impressionist art ever donated to an American university. Norman's neighborhoods are many and each one has its own distinct features and charm. Downtown Norman is filled with various restaurants, art galleries and a plethora of local businesses, nestled in some of the oldest buildings in Oklahoma. The Hall Park area is a predominately middle-class suburban neighborhood, historically significant because of it being the first all-electric town in the United States. The part of town that surrounds the University of Oklahoma features several historic neighborhoods, and the school itself boasts a beautiful Gothic-inspired architecture known as Cherokee Gothic. You'll find gorgeous old churches and homes in his part of the city as well, and just walking the streets is like taking a history tour. If you're looking for a fun night out, head to the youthful Campus Corner north of the university, where you'll find a large number of vibrant businesses, hip bars and memorable restaurants serving all kinds of cuisine!
