California, U.S.A.
Welcome to the city of Newark, California.
Newark is an Alameda County enclave of around 43,000 people, and is completely surrounded by the city of Fremont. It is part of the Tri-City-area, which consists of the three cities Fremont, Union City and Newark. The name Newark derives from the Newark Castle in Scotland, and the city wasn't incorporated until 1955, making it a fairly young municipality. The city of Newark is environmentally conscious and offers a total of thirteen parks and sport play facilities. The Silliman Center offers community recreational facilities; such as the family aquatic center where you'll find a 32,300 square foot swim facility. Waterslides, an indoor river, lap pools and a warm-water spa are a few of the features of this large recreational spot. As far as schools go, Newark is home to several higher educational institutions, including the Ohlone College, the University of Phoenix, ITT Institute; as well as the DeVry University and the Unitek College. The city of Newark hosts a number of celebrations throughout the year, including the annual Newark Days every September. The town then comes together to celebrate the incorporation that took place on September 22nd, over half a decade ago. The festivities include carnival rides, food and game booths; stage shows as well as a race and a parade, which travels down the stretch of Newark Blvd. The annual attendance of the event is over 100,000, so be sure to participate if you truly want to experience what this city is all about!
