Cambridge, MA
Welcome to Neighborhood Nine, Cambridge.
This area of Greater Boston is one of 13 neighborhoods in the city of Cambridge. Neighborhood Nine is also referred to as Area 9', or Radcliffe. Previously, it was called Peabody, until a recent relocation of a neighborhood school by the same name. The neighborhood is moderately dense with mainly residential structures, and is home to around 12,000 residents. While the neighborhood is mostly residential, the busy Harvard Square and Porter Square lies at the corners of Neighborhood Nine and provides more than enough entertainment. The large thoroughfare of Massachusetts Avenue connects the two squares and functions as the commercial focal point of the neighborhood. Down here, you will find a plethora of great restaurants, retail stores and various amenities. The Fresh Pond Shopping Center provides further options and a smaller commercial strip is available on Concord Avenue. There are plenty of students living in the area, since the preeminent institution of Harvard University has its presence in Neighborhood Nine with both academic and student housing facilities. Residents also have access to ample green space with the 50-acre Daneby Park, an athletic and recreational facility located on the previous city landfill.
