California, U.S.A.
Welcome to Moorpark, California.
Moorpark is a city in Ventura County, home to around 35,000 people. The city was first founded in 1900, and the town has experienced explosive growth in the past 40 years. The city was probably named after Admiral Lord Anson's Moor Park estate in Herfordshire, England, where he introduced the Moorpark Apricot in 1688. It is thought the town of Moorpark was therefore named after the Moorpark Apricot, which used to grow in the area. The City of Moorpark consists of several distinct neighborhoods. Old Town Moorpark is the historic heart of the city, boasting beautiful architecture and lots of pretty pepper trees along High Street. Cultural connoisseurs may want to stop by the High Street Arts Center in this area, for quality performances throughout the year. Those who are more interested in dining and shopping will also find a plethora of restaurants and various businesses in Old Town. Families who are looking to relocate should consider the Peach Hill and Mountain Meadows, where the Moorpark High School is located as well as the city's largest park, the Arroyo Vista Park and Recreation Center. Campus Park is a neighborhood that largely encompasses the Moorpark College, where you'll find a program focusing on exotic animal training and management. This unique college actually houses over 200 animals on campus! The community of Moorpark is no stranger to festivities, and there are many events held throughout the year. The most noteworthy festival is the Country Days, a single day in fall where the city comes together with food, music and a vivacious community spirit!
