California, U.S.A.
Mill Valley has around 14,000 residents and is located about 14 miles north of San Francisco. The city is gorgeously located on the shores of Richardson Bay in Marin County, among sweeping canyons of redwood trees. The area’s beautiful landscape beneath Mount Tamalpais, combined with the easy commute through the Golden Gate Bridge, makes this one if the country’s most affluent zip codes. Home prices have gone through the roof in the later years, and unfortunately this has led to many long-term residents being forced to move. Larger commercial establishments and franchise chains have replaced many local businesses that were previously part of the community, such as the nationally recognized Village Music. Mill Valley has lots of opportunities for hikers and climbers. The Tenderfoot Trail provides access to the Muir Woods, and the Zigzag trails travels steeply up the same hill. The Cypress trail, Edgewood Trail and Cowboy Rock are a few of the many other options available, and no matter which one you choose, once up there you will get a wonderful view of the valley below. This is a great place to raise a family, as there are several good schools in the Mill Valley School District. Take the Mill Valley Middle School for example; a four-time winner of the California Distinguished School Award. The folks of Mill Valley are no strangers to culture either, as this is a village with a strong artistic background. Downtown Mill Valley boasts a plethora of art galleries and open-air coffee shops, and the town has sponsored the Mill Valley Fall Arts for over 50 years. In addition, the Mill Valley Film Festival has run for the past 30 years, and the city is home to the Marin Theatre Company and the Sidney B. Cushing Amphitheater.
