Welcome to A Riverside Architectural Gem. It's all about the historic homes in Pittsburgh's Manchester neighborhood.
The spectacular array of 19th and early 20th century architecture on parade here is unique in that it makes up the largest historical district in the city of Pittsburgh. Garnering such recognition for it's architecture is some feat, in a city like Pittsburgh, which is famous for it's historic buildings. But over 600 homes here are recognized as historic. Manchester's almost completely residential, with over 2,000 residents, and with its wide streets and flat landscape it's sitting pretty. Organized citizens continue to invest in returning many of the homes to their former glory. And considering that the neighborhood rests on the Ohio River's east bank, and that it's just minutes outside of Downtown, it's in a prime position for a remarkable resurgence. Part of the 24 mile Three Rivers Heritage Trail runs through Manchester, offering residents and visitors recreation with a river view in a relaxing historic setting.
