California, U.S.A.
Welcome to Loyola, California.
Loyola is a so-called census-designated place, meaning that it is not an incorporated town or city, but rather a concentration of population separate form other municipalities. This is common in more rural areas, such as Loyola, which is a woodsy area with only around 3,000 residents. Located between Los Altos and Los Altos Hills, this is the home of Facebook's first headquarters, and residences in the area range from small bungalows to large mansions. The name Loyola originates from the year 1904, when the Jesuits of Santa Clara University wanted to build a new university and name it after their founder. The founder's name was St. Ignatius of Loyola, and while the university plan didn't go through due to financial problems after the 1906 earthquake, the town was named after him instead. As Loyola is a rural area with expansive open space, there isn't much in terms of commercial activity or recreation here. However, there is the Los Altos Golf and Country Club offering majestic views and an 18-hole golf course, as well as a gorgeous clubhouse with first class dining options. The only school in the area is Montclaire Elementary School, a quality primary school where the community is strong and parents and staff work together for continually improved education.
