California, U.S.A.
Welcome to the home of the Queen Mary.
The Queen Mary is one of the biggest attractions that bring visitors to Long Beach but that's not the only piece of history Long Beach has to offer. Originally named Willmore City, in 1888 this city by the beach was renamed Long Beach and became incorporated. From 1902 to 1910, Long Beach was the fastest growing city in the U.S. In 1933, Long Beach was hit by a major earthquake and rebuilt in an Art Deco style which still upholds today. Long Beach's rich history can be seen through its Art Deco architecture and restaurants such as The Sky Room; a restaurant built in 1938 after Conrad Hilton acquired the hotel. The Sky Room has been known to host high profile celebrities like Elizabeth Taylor, Clark Gable, and Cary Grant. Since then, Long Beach has also built up its downtown and the famous Pike's Place. Families and young folks all around have been enjoying Long Beach's historical influence with a modern day twist. Voted one of the best walking cities, locals and visitors roam Long Beach discovering old and new on every block they walk. One of the most diverse cities in Southern California and just a short drive from LA, Long Beach is an interesting alternative to the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles city.
