LITTLE ARMENIA
CULTURES
Welcome to a tasty little gem in Hollywood.
Truly little in size, but big on delights, Little Armenia is an East Hollywood neighborhood, named for the large number of Armenians who migrated there. But it's greatly diverse in residents and in housing, from low-rise apartment buildings, to Spanish Colonials, to craftsmans, to Hollyhock House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. You can't live there, but you can tour it, and afterwards enjoy a class or sunset view in the park of Barnsdale Arts Center while you're there. To get a true taste of Little Armenia take your pick of Armenian bakeries and try a cheese beureg, or the famous Armenian pizza, the lahmajune. And thanks to the Metro Red Line stop, transportation is easy. Or just as freely explore the streets on foot. You'll likely run across fans of Charles Bukowski. He was a neighborhood native, and his fans flock to Little Armenia to walk the streets that he walked and wrote about.
