LAS VEGAS
Nevada, U.S.A.
THE NEON CITY OF GLAMOUR AND GAMING
Welcome to the city for the lucky, a tourist-centric metropolis famous for its nightlife, gambling, shopping, entertainment and dining experiences.
Brought to life by mega casino-hotels that are as unique as they are massive, these epic resorts are playfully themed after a concept; like iconic cities, making it unlike any other place on Earth. Visit Paris, New York and Venice all in one night - or more accurately, experience their Vegas counterparts and maybe a circus show too. With more AAA Five Diamond hotels per square mile, the city is a global leader in hospitality. Barely over 100 years old, Las Vegas was established in 1905, and was incorporated into a city by 1911. Then in 1931, Nevada began construction on the Hoover Dam and legalized gambling, setting the stage for the resort city to take shape. By the end of World War II, Las Vegas was famous for its extravagant hotels and casinos, but the city wouldn't get its first mega casino-hotel until 1989, when Steve Wynn opened The Mirage. Through the 90s and beyond, mega casino-hotels would dominate the Vegas skyline, and take over the city. Tourists experience the eccentric and extravagant face of Las Vegas, but the city is surrounded by traditional family-centric suburbs that house the multitude of people that are required to run the resorts and businesses that keep the local economy booming. A bus system reduces traffic with timely service, and the subtropical, hot desert climate offers no risk of natural disaster, like tornadoes.
