JEFFERSON PARK
A NEIGHBORHOOD OF CHURCHES
Welcome to A Neighborhood of Churches.
Jefferson Park's got churches, and lots of them. From the nationally-known sprawling Baptist to stately Roman Catholic, Jefferson, Park has you covered. And between churches and homes, this neighborhood is a feast for architecture lovers With mostly single family homes, built in the early 1900's, a drive through the streets reveal the colorful, simple, elegant, and sometimes quirky beauty that is Jefferson Park. Blocks of neat homes make up this mostly residential community, as diverse as it gets. The 1940s saw a rush of African-Americans to the community, as well as large numbers of Japanese, but over the years it became known as a historically African-American community. It's grown increasingly diverse, and its residents epitomize the melting pot that is LA. Close to USC, and more affordable than most LA neighborhoods, it attracts students and young urbanites seeking lower housing costs and a suburban feel in the city.
