New York, NY
Welcome to A Window to the World.
As culturally diverse as Queens is, Jackson Heights may just be the neighborhood within the borough that takes the cake for the most diverse of them all. At first glance India sits at the top, with signs of the country's culture leading the pack as you set foot there. Indian eateries, from simple stands selling Indian ice cream called kulfi, to white table-clothed buffet restaurants with cult-like followings, to shop after shop selling gold jewelry and saris in a rainbow of colors. But there's Columbian, Peruvian, and Nepali, and it's said that over 30 languages are spoken in the neighborhood alone. Roosevelt Avenue and secondly 37th Avenue are the main drags, and a walk along these international thoroughfares are a testament to the unique beauty and diversity of the area Meandering in and around the avenues you'll find many historic buildings, row houses and apartment complexes, complexes often with elegant private gardens at their entrances, prompting the use of the term garden apartment, that is synonymous with the area. There known to be spacious too, and a much bigger bang for your NYC buck.
