California, U.S.A.
Welcome to Inglewood, California.
Inglewood is often thought of as a neighborhood, but it is in fact its own city located a few miles southwest of downtown Los Angeles. Inglewood is home to around 110,000 people and was incorporated in 1908. The City of Inglewood is divided into several distinct neighborhoods, including Morningside Park, Downtown, Fairview Heights, Arbor Village, Centinela Heights, Sports Village, Century Heights, Inglewood Knolls and Lockhaven. Most of the shopping in Inglewood can be done in the Crenshaw-Imperial district, which aside from a retail center also features a public library. If you venture off to North Inglewood you will find a burgeoning arts scene, which is centered at East Hyde Park Boulevard and La Brea Avenue. Morningside Park is home to numerous green spaces including the Hyde Park, as well as venues like the Hollywood Park Racetrack and The Forum. From this part of town, you can reach Los Angeles International Airport in under 15 minutes! Inglewood boasts several notable landmarks, including The Forum, which was built in 1968. Architect Charles Luckman, who was also responsible for the famous Madison Square Garden, designed the landmark. The Forum was an imitation of the Roman Forum, and for a long time this place was one of Los Angele's biggest concert venues. In fact, stars like Elvis Presley, Led Zeppelin and the Jackson 5 were some of the major artists and groups to grace the stage of the arena. The venue gained even further recognition when it became the home of NBA's Los Angeles Lakers and the NHL's Los Angeles Kings. In 2000, however, the teams moved to the Staples Center. After the arena was deserted as a sports and concert venue, Faithful Central Bible Church took over the premises and later The Madison Square Garden Company. The company renovated the arena with an investment of $50 million, and again re-launched it as a world-class concert venue reminiscent of its former glory. The Fabulous Forum opened in 2014, with a performance by the legendary Eagles. As a result, Inglewood can pride itself with the largest indoor performance venue in the United States! Something else Inglewood can be proud of are the many celebrities that once called the city home including supermodel Tyra Banks and NFL player Todd Davis.
