HAYWARD
California, U.S.A.
THE HEART OF THE BAY AREA
Welcome to Hayward, California.
This city is a sub-region of the San Francisco Bay area, and with 150,000 inhabitants, it is the third largest municipality in Alameda County. There are several theories as to how Hayward was named, with the most common one being the story of William Dutton Hayward, who opened a hotel here in 1852. Another version of the backstory claims that a millionaire called Alvinza Hayward was the reason for the city's name. The city, which has sometimes been referred to as The Heart of the Bay Area, has been improved a lot during the recent years with new commercial additions such as Target, Costco, as well as numerous parks and libraries. You'll find wonderful mom-and-pop shops, chain and local restaurants and cute cafes spread out across the city, and the real estate here is affordable despite its convenient location to all the large Bay Area communities. Hayward has taken steps to decrease the city graffiti with the initiative Mural Arts Program. This terrific idea has de-cluttered the streets and instead added beautiful murals by talented graffiti artists, thus enhancing the city aesthetics. Among the many places worth visiting are the Hayward Japanese Gardens, where you can enjoy eastern culture and unparalleled tranquility, smack in the middle of the bustling city. The flawlessly trimmed bonsai trees and the picturesque little pond offer a welcome respite for the most belabored of residents!
