FOREST HILL
A LUSH SMALL TOWN HAVEN
Welcome to Forest Hill, San Francisco.
This neighborhood is an affluent one, comfortably located in the heart of San Francisco. Its streets were originally built for riding horses and carriages, so they are exceptionally wide and generous. The avenues of Forest Hill are gracefully curved, accented by fanciful landscape and beautiful homes with magnificent ocean views. Like so many of San Francisco's neighborhoods, Forest Hill is somewhat of a small town inside the city. It is one of the few neighborhoods with no condominiums, and its active homeowners' association requires a membership fee of all property owners, as well as annual monetary contributions to the maintenance of common areas. Landscaping is especially lavish for San Francisco, with true tree canopies going on for blocks. The homes are gorgeous single-family constructions, many planted on their own separate pieces of land something that is pretty unique in the densely packed city of San Francisco. This architecturally picturesque neighborhood offers its residents convenient access to the West Portal, where one can find a movie theatre, boutiques, salons, cafes, a diversity of restaurants, as well as several banks and other service providers. The Forest Hill Musical Days, housed in the neighborhood clubhouse, is an intimate chamber music festival founded by pianist Mari Kodama and her husband. In true small-town spirit, volunteers from the neighborhood help with planning and music-loving residents open their private homes to host performing artists from all over the world. With its access to plenty of amenities, entertainment and public transportation, this lush escape from the big city truly gives you the best of both worlds.
