FAIRFIELD
California, U.S.A.
CITY OF THE JELLY BEANS
Welcome to Fairfield, California.
This city of around 110,000 people is situated halfway between San Francisco and Sacramento, in Solano County. Fairfield was founded in 1856 by captain Robert H. Waterman, who named the city after his hometown of Fairfield, Connecticut. Regardless if you are in town for business or vacation or to stay for good, this destination is an ideal spot on the map. The city is mostly known as the home of the Jelly Belly Factory and the Anheuser-Bush Brewery, and both locations hold tours for curious visitors. Of course, you can bring a little brew or a pack of Jelly Beans home with you to commemorate the trip! Right outside the city you have the picturesque and peaceful Suisun Valley, a wine country described by Sunset Magazine in the magical terms: undiscovered and unpretentious. The valley boasts ten excellent wineries, and a just an earshot away you have the Green Valley wine country with more tasting rooms. When you're done sipping wine, you can go swing your club at one of the many highly regarded golf courses or hike in the Rockville Hills Regional Park. If you're more off a shopping guy or gal, you'll be more than satisfied by the wealth of stores down in Solano's downtown. Kids of the right height and others young at heart may enjoy the go-cart racing tracks at Driven Raceway, and for more fun you have the Six Flags Discovery Kingdom merely fifteen minutes away!
