MARINE COUNTY’S MOST VIBRANT NIGHTLIFE
Welcome to Fairfax, California.
This city of around 7,500 people was incorporated in 1931, and is located in the heart of Marin County. Fairfax got its name from a Lord Charles Snowden Fairfax from Scotland, who inherited the land from his British ancestors. Mr. Fairfax was compelled to go west to take part in the gold rush, and a few years after his arrival he became the Marine County Supervisor. He was an honorable man who extended hospitality to those who came by his estate, and in true patriotism he died after traveling east as a delegate to the National Democratic Convention in 1869. Today, the town of Fairfax is a diverse and green community, where you won't find chain stores or other commercial developments. Fairfax has worked diligently to keep the small-town character, and offers plenty of local charm. The community has an Art Deco era movie theatre, which is the focal point of Fairfax's exciting nightlife, as well as many vibrant restaurants and hot clubs where you can listen to everything from jazz to popular music. Fairfax is the hiker's paradise, as it is doused in green space with tons of natural preserve. The wooded hills and warm California climate encourages year round outdoor activity, and you have both large open spaces and public urban parks at your disposal. The Bolinas Park is a large grassy area towered by astounding redwood trees, and the Peri Park offers a playground and whimsical playhouses for the little ones. The latter also has a barbecue area and a stage for both daytime and late night performances! This city is as lively as can be, having the most vivacious nightlife in all of Marin County. In this unique town, you have an endless list of options to choose from. For instance, you can test the flavors at Iron Springs Pub and Brewery or Deer Park Villa, and then head out to the 19 Broadway's Peri, Caf Amsterdam or the Fairfax Theater for a long night out!
