California, U.S.A.
Welcome to El Cerrito, California.
El Cerrito is a city in Contra Costa County with around 24,000 inhabitants. Former San Francisco residents, who were forced to relocate after the 1906 earthquake, founded the town in what was then a ranch named Rancho San Pablo. Today, the city is a vibrant community where the main commercial strip is the San Pablo Avenue, which stretches all the way through the city. The El Cerrito Plaza is located here and consists of a shopping center; originally built as a regional mall in the 1950s. For a night out, grab a few friends and head to the Cerrito Theater, a restored two-screen movie theater where you can watch a movie while ordering alcoholic beverages and food. The shopping plaza lies in the center amongst a multitude of restaurants and stores, including the Elevation 66 Brewing Company where you can devour fresh local food and uniquely crafted beers. El Cerrito also has plenty of green space to satisfy the outdoorsy folks, both in the form of public parks and undeveloped nature areas. One of the most noteworthy open spaces is the Hillside Natural Area, which boasts 80 acres of beautiful greenery. In addition, residents have access to the Huber Park, Cerrito Vista Park and Arlington Park, to only name a few. Hikers and bicyclists can go for a long stretch down the Ohlone Greenway trail, which runs along the city; and parents can bring their kids for a day of fun at the Playland-Not-At-The-Beach, a popular amusement park museum. Of course, the biggest allure with El Cerrito is that it lies right by the sea, so you'll never need to go far for a breath of fresh ocean air!
