Welcome to Downtown Atlanta, Georgia.
The downtown residential market in Atlanta is continuously growing, with new people moving in every day. Residents have many options between apartments, lofts and condominiums, with both new and historic constructions. The downtown area stretches from Atlanta's North Avenue to Memorial Drive, and can be separated into three regions: upper, middle and lower. In the upper region you will truly experience the flavor of Downtown Atlanta's diversity, with the Georgia Tech's Bobby Dodd's stadium and the green space of Centennial Olympic Park. Check out The World of Coca-Cola Museum or bring your kids for a fun day at the Georgia Aquarium. In addition to plenty of tourist attractions, this area is home to a plethora of vibrant restaurants, bars and nightclubs. In the mid-region between Peachtree St. and Andrew Young Blvd, the commercial activity is a little lighter; however, you'll find the renowned Sun Dial restaurant here, the popular Hooters bar, as well as a few hotels. Most people prefer staying in the upper and middle region, since the lower area of downtown is quite worn down and features a large homeless population. One of the most prominent venues in Downtown Atlanta is the Philips Arena, a top destination for the city's most exciting sports event. The arena is home to both the Atlanta Hawks and the Atlanta Dream, and is one of the city's most desirable entertainment centers. The other large arena, Georgia Dome, is home to The Falcons as well as numerous concerts and circus events. One of the secret gems of downtown is the so-called Underground Atlanta, which is located in a large underground viaduct that takes you under the streets of Downtown. This hidden spot is bustling with top restaurants, vivacious nightclubs and a multitude of specialty shops and even a history tour. Animal lovers should visit the Zoo Atlanta, while culture buffs can stop by the Fox Theatre; a landmark in the heart of Downtown Atlanta with first class entertainment.
