California, U.S.A.
Welcome to Danville, California. With only just north of 42,000 inhabitants, it is one of the incorporated municipalities in California that uses town in its name instead of city.
Despite being small, it is one of the state's most expensive cities and one of the wealthiest suburbs of Oakland and San Francisco. The affluence is evident everywhere, from some of the most expensive real estate and exclusive country clubs in the nation, to elite education where nearly all high school graduates move on to advanced degrees. The Town of Danville travels quite a bit back in history. Its name is derived partly after Daniel Inman, a man who bought 10,000 acres of land with his brother, using their Gold Rush earnings. They rejected the first name suggestion, Inmanville, and instead settled on Danville. In 1862 there were only 20 people living in the town proper, but after rumors of fertile land and prosperity, newcomers migrated to the area and the town grew into the successful little haven it is today. The quaint little town is planted amidst stunning scenery with Mount Diablo towering in the background, sprinkled with California sunshine. Danville also offers a plethora of enjoyable activities to choose from. With numerous parks like Sycamore Valley Park, Hap Magee Range Park and Osage Station Park, it makes for a perfect outing for families with kids. For a bit of culture, take a trip to the Museum of San Ramon Valley for fascinating tours through Old Town Danville, or visit the Blackhawk Museum to indulge in the great display of vintage and classic cars. The Village Theatre, a bastion of Danville live, hosts an array of classic plays for the cultured. Danville has a notable passion for cars. Every year there are a ton of events to rejoice in, like the Danville D'Elegance, the town's charity street show, or the Hot Summer Nights Car Shows. During these popular festivities, entire streets are blocked out for the showcase of exclusive cars while patrons can devour delicious food, listen to live music, and shop souvenirs. Small as Danville is, the nightlife is alive and well. When the sun sets in Mount Diablo, the streets below come to life with trendy restaurants, fashionable bars and bustling nightclubs. So whether you're looking to live here or just come out to play for the weekend, this San Francisco sidekick will offer you more than you could wish for!
