Georgia, U.S.A.
Welcome to Dalton, Georgia. Dalton is the county seat of Whitfield County and home to around 33,000 people. The city is conveniently located right by the Interstate 75, and nestled in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The city was named for General Tristan Dalton of Massachusetts and is often referred to as “Carpet Capital of the World”. Dalton received its nickname thanks to the 150 plus carpet plants located in the area, an industry that employs over 30,000 people. In fact, over 90% of the functional carpet production in the world is made within a 65-mile radius of the city. The city also has plenty of historic homes and landmarks, and is home to the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center. At the center, you can find the Georgia Athletic Coaches’ Hall of Fame, which holds events throughout the year. Dalton features a charming downtown area with plenty of shopping and dining choices, and every year the city hosts numerous festivals. If you happen to visit during fall you get to experience the Annual Arts Festival, the Battle of Tunnel Hill Civil War Reenactment, as well as the Prater’s Mill Country Fair. Just outside the city awaits more attractions, such as the Western and Atlantic Railroad Tunnel and Heritage Center; located only five miles away. Travel 25 minutes further and you’ll find the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, and you also have Native American Cherokee sites nearby. Dalton is truly a first-class travel destination with its many amenities and attractions, all within close access to major freeways!
