CUMMING
Georgia, U.S.A.
SHORES OF LAKE LANIER
Welcome to Cumming, Georgia. This small city in Forsyth County is situated around 45 minutes away from downtown Atlanta, and is home about 5,430 people.
The pretty little town is graced by the shores of Lake Sidney Lanier, and boasts a vibrant downtown filled with a plethora of amenities. While the city experienced some distress during the Great Depression and Civil War, the circumstances began to look up around 1956. At that time, the Buford Dam was built, providing the famous Lake Lanier right by Cumming. This recreational attraction added new value to the little town and allowed Cumming to prosper and expand. After the construction of Georgia Route 400, the city experienced an even larger influx of new residents; people who wanted to take part of the green surroundings and escape Atlanta. In fact, the growth has been so rapid that the Cumming-Forsyth County is one of the most quickly developing areas in the country. Cumming today is home to an affluent community, thanks to the strong economy and vicinity to Atlanta, which allows people to live in the suburbs and commute to the large employment centers. Another attractive aspect of Cummings is the proximity to the towering Blue Ridge Mountains, which along with Lake Sidney Lanier creates a spectacular landscape to live in and enjoy. In addition, the school system is one of the best ones in the state, furthering the allure of Cumming as a family-friendly town.
