California, U.S.A.
Welcome to Chula Vista, California.
Chula Vista is a city located around 7.5 miles from downtown San Diego and 7.5 miles from the Mexican border, in the center of one of the wealthiest and most diverse zones in the United States. Chula Vista is home to approximately 244,000 residents, making it the second largest city in the San Diego Metropolitan area. The city was founded in the early 19th century, and received the name Chula Vista (meaning beautiful view in Spanish) thanks its breathtaking location between the San Diego Bay and the tumbling coastal mountain foothills. Chula Vista is home to several major institutions, including the United States Olympic Training centers, as well as many popular tourist destinations. Some well known spots include the SleepTrain Amphitheater, the beautiful Chula Vista Marina, and the Living Coast Discovery Center. Chula Vista is a rapidly growing city, and major developments are taking place in the Otay Valley by the Olympic Training Center and Otay Lake Reservoir. Thousands of new homes have been added to the area, and the recent construction of South Bay Expressway has further contributed to the city's accessibility and allure. While business life is thriving in Chula Vista, the biggest source of income for the city is tourism. People are attracted to the vibrant shopping and dining scene and the many entertainment venues, and like many other California cities, excellent golf courses. Some of the most popular outdoor areas include the Chula Vista Nature Center and the Otay Valley Regional Park, both spectacular recreational spaces that boast scenic nature. Another place worth a visit is the OnStage Playhouse, the only live theatre in South Bay, where visitors and residents alike can enjoy quality performances year round. For shopping, head to the city's main shopping mall, the Chula Vista Center. The mall features a multitude of stores and anchor tenants like Macy's, J.C Penney and Sears. Those who are looking to experience Chula Vista during its most festive times can enjoy one of the many annual festivals, including the Lemon Festival, Starlight Parade and the traditional Chula Vista Rose Festival.
