Welcome to Chinatown, Boston.
The neighborhood of Boston's very own Chinatown is flourishing with history, culture and tradition and obviously, great food! Visitors from all over the globe come here to experience this colorful enclave, shopping for exotic gifts and dining in authentic Asian restaurants. Boston's Chinatown is the third largest of its kind, only after New York and San Francisco's equivalents. You'll find this enriching neighborhood situated right at the edge of Boston's bustling shopping and financial district, behind traditional Chinese gates adorned with Foo Lions. The lions are a superstitious tradition, meant to ward off evil at the entrance. Aside from terrific food and exciting shopping, Chinatown features some great holiday festivals throughout the year. Check out the New Year festivities for instance, when tourists and Boston residents can revel in the very best of food, entertainment and fun. Shop affordable and impeccably handmade items at the souvenir stands, or taste exotic mixtures at one of the tea houses while taking in the unique atmosphere of this Chinese haven. If you're in town for a visit, there is several hotels in the heart of Chinatown. Even if you're staying somewhere else, Chinatown is close to everything so be sure to make it a priority to stop by at least once during your trip!
