Glendale, CA
Welcome to Chevy Chase, Glendale.
Chevy Chase is a neighborhood in Chevy Chase Canyon, Glendale. The neighborhood features mostly single-family homes ranging from moderate to upscale, surrounded by the areas Rancho San Rafael, College Hills, Woodbury, Glenoaks Canyon and North Arroyo. Nestled in the northern part of Chevy Chase you will find the Chevy Chase Country Club, a green jewel in the heart of the canyon. The country club has been the pride of the community since the first homes were built in 1925, and was part of the original vision of upscale home surrounding the tumbling expanse of an exclusive golf club. Today, the golf club is still very much a defining piece Chevy Chase Canyon's character. The Chevy Chase Canyon itself has a rich history, which is perhaps the most interesting aspect of the neighborhood. It is the largest canyon in San Rafael Hills, and was originally named Canon de Sicomore, as part of the original land grant from the King of Spain. The area was a gold and silver mining hub in the 1800s, and became a private game preserve for the Dohemy family in the early 1900s. In 1926, the Canyon was named Chevy Chase Estates, and the community has been diligent in maintaining the natural beauty of the area. Part of the effort has included preventing construction of high-rise condos, apartments and commercial development, which means that Chevy Chase remains a calm respite in a rural-like setting. Chevy Chase is a getaway from the bustle of the city and an oasis to come home to. And if you like golf, Chevy Chase has you more than covered.
