Tennessee, U.S.A.
Welcome to Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Chattanooga is located in southeastern Tennessee, and with around 171,280 residents it is the fourth-largest city in the state. The city is situated by the Chickamauga and Nickalack Lakes, which are both part of the Tennessee River. Thanks to its terrific position by the Appalachian Mountains and the Cumberland Plateau, Chattanooga boasts spectacular scenery that has given way to its most common nickname Scenic City. The city is internationally renowned for the 1941 song Chattanooga Choo Choo, written by Glenn Miller and the world's first gold record winner. Chattanooga is also known for being the home to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, as well as being an All-America City Award holder and Tree City USA community. Chattanooga is a shoppers dream, and there are numerous retail shops and malls to choose from. The Hamilton Place Mall is located in East Brainerd, and is a great place to find almost anything you're looking for. If you get hungry while shopping, you'll find a number of terrific restaurants at the mall as well. The city has several interesting museums, including the Hunter Museum of American Art and the Chattanooga History Center. If you're into performing arts, check out the historic Tivoli Theatre, a gem that was built in 1921 and hosts the nationally acclaimed Chattanooga Symphony And Orchestra. The venue also features 15 productions per year performed by three separate theater programs. For a day with family, head to the Tennessee Aquarium to explore various sea- creatures, or the Creative Discovery Museum where kids can enjoy a plethora of interactive science, art and music exhibitions. When you feel like a bit of outdoor recreation, hike down the 13-mile long trail of the Tennessee Riverwalk, or visit the Chattanooga Zoo at Warner Park by downtown. Or if you're feeling adventurous, head to the Lookout Mountain Incline Railway, a steep funicular railway that rises from the St. Elmo Historic District to the very top of the magnificent mountain.
