Massachusetts, U.S.A.
Welcome to Braintree, Massachusetts.
The Town of Braintree is a suburban city in Norfolk County. Braintree is home to around 36,000 people and is part of the Greater Boston area. Braintree's history goes back to 1625, when the town was first settled. The town was incorporated in 1640 and named after the English town of Braintree. The land originally included what are now Randolph, Holdbrook and Quincy cities, and the town was part of Suffolk County until the formation of Norfolk County in 1793. Braintree can boast being the birthplace of two presidents, John Adams and John Quincy Adams, as well as statesman John Hancock. Another famous figure, General Sylvanus Thayer aka The Father of West Point, was also born here. The suburban community of Braintree is fairly quiet, with a strong residential character. Through two major highways, residents have convenient access to the Greater Boston area and Cape Cod, as well as downtown Boston and Logan International Airport. Residential construction is a terrific mash up of established neighborhoods, small clusters of new homes and plenty of condominium complexes. Most of the action goes on around the shopping centers and office/industrial parks. One of the largest regional shopping centers in the northeast is located here, The South Shore Plaza, where visitors can enjoy every imaginable restaurant and store. One reason why people are so attracted to the quaint little town of Braintree is the presence of excellent public and private schools, and the many parks. Parks like Town Forest, Pond Meadow Park and Sunset Lake offer an abundance of recreational resources, and the town also boasts an 18-hole public golf course!
