Welcome to the Belmar/Lakewood, Denver.
The Lakewood/Belmar comprises the Belmar Shopping and Dining District, situated in Downtown Lakewood. Downtown Lakewood is located right at the intersection of Wadsworth Boulevard and Alameda Avenue, only 6 miles west of downtown Denver. Downtown Lakewood was established in 2004 at the same time as the Belmar district, hence they are often mentioned as one entity; Belmar/Lakewood. Belmar consists of 22 blocks filled with over 80 shops and restaurants, including large retailers like Target, Best Buy and Nordstrom. The center also has a movie theater, a bowling hall and several luxury condos, as well as two educational facilities and more than 250,000 square feet of office space. The pedestrian friendly area is created with an old town village center in mind, but with a contemporary feel. Belmar/Lakewood is truly a vibrant multi-use district that both residents and visitors love. In the middle of the district, there is a beautiful little one-acre plaza filled with outdoor cafes. The plaza functions as a gathering place for summer concerts, and in the winter it becomes an ice skating rink and hub for holiday socializing. Restaurants in the Belmar Shopping and Dining District includes everything from English pubs to All-American food, and stores run the gamut from quaint boutiques to the latest high-fashion. Lakewood features the Bear Creek Lake Park, where residents can enjoy an abundance of recreation. The park features a wide range of animals, like snakes, birds, coyotes, prairie dogs and more. Another must-visit is the Lakewood Heritage Center in Belmar Park, which showcases the history of Lakewood as well as over 10 historic structures and 30,000 artifacts.
