California, U.S.A.
Welcome to Anaheim, California.
The City of Anaheim is part of Greater Los Angeles, and with around 336,265 residents it is the most populated city in Orange County. Anaheim was founded by a group of German-American families, and the name Anaheim is a blend of Ana after the nearby Santa Ana River, and heim, a common German language place name meaning home. Anaheim is renowned for its major theme parks, as well as its sports team and convention center, and the city encompasses a diverse collection of neighborhoods and communities. Most people know Anaheim as the location for the world-famous Disneyland Resort, an amusement park attraction and hotel area that bring in millions of tourists. The city, which was incorporated in 1876, also thrives as an industrial center for electronics, aircraft parks and canned fruit. A major landmark in the city is the Angel Stadium of Anaheim, which is home to large sports teams like the NHL Anaheim Ducks. Downtown Anaheim offers plenty of recreation and amenities, like restaurants, shops and the downtown farmer's market. As far as culture, head to The Muzeo, the newest major museum in Orange County, located next to the Anaheim West Tower. Another museum is the renowned Mother Colony House, which is situated in the Colony Historic district just west of downtown. The house was the first one built in Anaheim, by the founder of the city, George Hanson. For major shopping, head to the Anaheim Plaza or the Anaheim Town Square in East Anaheim, or the Anaheim Garden Walk lifestyle center, which features retail, dining and plenty of entertainment!
