ALAMO
California, U.S.A.
A HISTORICAL SUBURB
Welcome to Alamo, California.
Alamo is essentially a suburb east of San Francisco, equally close to the city of Walnut Creek and the town of Danville. The name Alamo derives from the word for poplar in Spanish, and signifies the poplar trees that once lined San Ramon Creek. The city is today a green enclave of residential construction and plenty of parks. The Andrew H. Young Park, located at the corner of Jackson Way and Danville Blvd, is a beautiful 1-acre park named in memory of Alamo resident Andrew H. Young, who was instrumental in preserving the charm of Alamo. Residents also have access to a 4.4-acre community park named Livorna Park, which features a large open-air gazebo, a sand volleyball court, a multi-use sports court, play-structures and more. During the summer, a number of concerts are held here; and on Easter, little ones can take part in the exciting egg hunt that is held each year.
